Blog Tour Guest Lincoln Cole - Experience with Kindle Scout #RRBC #RavensPeak @LincolnjCole
It is my pleasure to lend my blog to my fellow author and RRBC member, Lincoln Cole, for his blog tour. I can tell you all this, I have moved Raven's Peak up on my TBR list and I haven't been disappointed. Without any further delay, please welcome Lincoln!
This was actually my second run at Kindle Scout with a campaign. My first one barely topped three hundred page views over the entire month and was declined almost as soon as the campaign ended. I didn’t really know what I was doing and didn’t have a lot of friends to reach out to for help.
So, for this second time around I decided to do things a little differently. I wrote Raven’s Peak intending to build an exciting opening to raw people into the world. I reached out to everyone I knew and even a lot of people I’d only just met to try and generate nominations and interest. I am a member of RRBC, and that supplied me with a lot of support and nominations from members like A.M. Manay. I also asked pretty much every friend I have on Facebook to look at my entry because I knew if people saw what I was offering they would nominate.
And I was right. Amazon accepted it for a contract after only three days of waiting, and the average for acceptance is closer to ten or thirteen days after a campaign ends. Amazon greenlit Raven’s Peak basically the instant my campaign ended.
I wrote a bunch of blogs about the experience, and I’ve compiled them here. Anyone interested in running a campaign of their own should check it out, because I list statistics of a lot of people running campaigns, ideas about how to generate interest, and a lot of other information about best practice to help people get contracts with Kindle Press of their own.
Since being accepted it’s been a whirlwind of getting the final version ready to publication, reaching out to bloggers about reviews, and preparing for the launch. Through launching my five previous books I learned a lot about what to do to make a lasting impression on Amazon and with readers, and I’m using every trick and tactic I’ve learned to try and hit this launch at breakneck speed.
Oh, and when I have time I’m also writing the sequel!
